The Newton Police Department would like to inform the community about the juvenile curfew ordinance newly enacted by the Newton Town Council. This ordinance has been established to enhance the safety and well-being of our young residents. Effective September 14, 2023, juveniles are prohibited from being in any public place and/or establishment between the hours of 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM, unless accompanied by a parent, guardian, and/or caretaker, who must be over the age of eighteen (18) years old. The curfew aims to promote a secure environment for our youths while respecting their educational, recreational, and employment needs. The ordinance offers additional exceptions for traveling to and from employment, errands involving medical emergencies, extracurricular school activities, and attending activities sponsored by religious or community-based organizations of a cultural, educations, or social nature supervised by two (2) or more adults. We encourage all residents to review the full text of the ordinance below to ensure compliance and understanding of the regulations. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated as we work together to foster a safer community for everyone.
